about

Chris learned this tune from fiddlemeister, Bruce Molsky. A chinquapin is an edible nut, commonly found in the eastern and southern US. Some 19th century composer, now lost to time apparently decided to write a tune about one of their lesser known joys in life. Traditional Music saves these precious moments of real life for us. Given the crookedness of the tune, it appears this pastime might involve a lot of stepping forward for a ways, then backing up. Either direction, this tune is fun!
